VanLUG Meeting and Hardware Drop Off Contest! All welcome! June 18

Jun 18 2007 - 19:30

Location(s)

In a break from their normal meeting format VanLUG will be joining Free Geek to hold a computer hardware drive on June 18th at 7:30 at their new warehouse at 117 East 2nd Avenue (between Main & Quebec).

Clean out the old computer gear in your basement and earn kudos from your significant other while ensuring it is reused or at least responsibly recycled. VANlug will have door prizes for the most hardware donated, the most obscure hardware, and the oldest running system.

IBM will be providing a speaker to talk about the greening of electronics.

VanLUG will be providing pizza and pop. Please use the RSVP form to ensure that we order the correct amount of food. If you have any specific food requirements please be sure to let us know.

Please be aware that Free Geek charges $10 per CRT (monitor) in order to offset their costs. For more information about the hardware we accept please visit our What We Take page.

Don't worry if it's not dead yet, Free Geek builds complete Linux systems out of the reusable hardware and makes it available either through their adoption or hardware grant programs.

As always, VanLUG meetings are free and open to everyone. You are welcome to come with or without any hardware to donate.

Special Note: The space can be a bit chilly sometimes, we suggest bringing a sweater.

Parking: There is a loading dock in the lane between 1st and 2nd for dropping off equipment. Free parking in the area is sparse, however there is pay parking at the north-east corner of Terminal and Quebec and the Science World/Main Street SkyTrain station is nearby.

Please remember to RSVP so that we can order the right amount of food.
